Chequered blankets and wicker baskets at the ready, calling all Brits, one of our favourite pastimes is upon us, National Picnic Week!
According to a recent survey, seven out of ten Brits believe picnics are a staple of the British summer and 44% believe a picnic is essential to a summer day out. National Picnic Week not only reminds us to pack the perfect picnic but also to decide on the best picnic locations.
So, in honour of all keen picnickers, we want to know where your favourite picnic spots are? We are keen to know whether basking in the grass takes your fancy or enjoying the sea air with a coastal picnic makes for the perfect day out.
Whether it’s at the top of hill, a hidden countryside cove, by the canal or on your front lawn, in the next two months we will be running a search to find the UK’s favourite places to pull out the picnic blanket, savour some good food and appreciate the great outdoors.
In need of inspiration to get you started? Here’s a roundup of picnic spots by the National Trust:
North East: Cragside in Northumberland offers loads of beautiful lakeside views and grassy areas to pop up a picnic
North West: Formby, Liverpool is the perfect spot for a sea-view and salty air while enjoying your snacks
Midlands: Longshaw, Peak District lets you take shade under the beautiful trees scattered across the luscious fields
South East: Basildon Park boasts acres of grassy woodland to enjoy a tipple or two on a summer afternoon picnic
South West: Montacute, Somerset – hidden behind hedges and shaded by tall trees, you’ll find picnic spots for you and your family to enjoy
