One step closer to revealing the UK’s best board gamer

19th May 2017

The Pork Farms team recently took a trip down to London to host the penultimate board games event in the run up to our 2017 grand final.

The Owl & The Pussycat in Northfields was the battle ground for some of London’s top journalists and lifestyle bloggers, as contestants took to the boards to compete for the UK’S 2017 Board Games “Media Champion” title.Resized 1

After a close fought battle, over five different games, the winner of our media contest was Laura Hartley from @WhatsHotblog.

After reviewing events of the day, Oxford University student, lifestyle blogger and Media Event Champion, Laura said; “This was undoubtedly one of the most entertaining blogging events I’ve ever attended as the activities meant that we actually got to know each other a little better. It was so lovely to spend the afternoon battling it out over some childhood classics with the other fantastic bloggers that attended. Many thanks to Pork Farms and The Owl & The Pussycat for hosting this event for us – I had a blast!”

Our Board Games Championships is successfully in its second year and along with our friends at the Micropub Association we’ve had the pleasure of holding competitive heat rounds at over 70 UK micropubs in a bid to find the UK Board Games Champion 2017. The last few months have seen hundreds compete in the heat stages and we have now whittled those down to our top scorers who will be competing at the grand final, staged at One Inn The Wood micropub in Kent, on Saturday 24th June. For families wanting to get involved, never fear! We are also holding a Family Board Games Night, where families can compete for their own title and prizes in the comfort of their own living room.
