Our Heritage

We have been making pork pies since 1931 and our recipe is as mouthwatering now as it was back when master-baker Ken Parr opened his first pie shop in Nottingham and passed down his legacy to the company that Pork Farms has become today.

We are immensely proud of our roots and our commitment to British pork. We will only use 100% succulent British pork in our pies, paired with the perfect amount of seasoning and of course all packaged up in the most delicious hot water crust pastry. We think they are the finest pies in the land, but we will let you be the judge of that.

OVER 40 MILLION PIES ARE DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY EACH YEAR

Where it began

The Pork Farms legacy started way back in 1931 when local Nottinghamshire baker Ken Parr took out a loan to open his first bakery, and the rest as they say is history.

Ken’s pies became legendary and his original recipe is still used to inspire our Pork Farms bakeries today. It is Ken’s baking legacy that sees our master-piemakers continue to produce the same high-quality, award-winning pies, and they still seem to go down very well.

Over 40 million are distributed throughout the UK every year and our whole range of pork pies can be found in supermarkets and independent grocery stores around the country – including our Original Pork Pie, the iconic Melton Mowbray pie, our Branston Pickle topped pork pie and our very popular mini snacking pies.

We are immensely proud of our roots and our commitment to British pork. We will only use 100% succulent British pork in our pies, and we believe you will never find a better pork pie than a Pork Farms pie. We certainly are a pie-loving nation…

Our pies

Melton Mowbray

With these delicious pork pies we use 100% chopped British pork, together with pepper seasoning, wrapped in richly textured pastry. They’re baked free-standing without moulds, which leads to their ‘bow’ sides. Finally, jelly is inserted through the crimped lids after cooking has turned the pastry a rich, golden brown colour. Did you know that only pork pies produced in the area around the Leicestershire market town of Melton Mowbray can use the famous name? It ensures both authenticity and consistency of the taste. We wouldn’t have it any other way!

Original

Our Original pork pie is made with the perfect balance of seasoned 100% British pork, surrounded in jelly and encased in a delicious hot water crust pastry. Baked in straight moulds for a consistent shape, this is our signature pie; one we’re proud to put our name to. For something different try heating your pie – it’s a truly wonderful eating experience.

Topped

As well as Melton Mowbray and Original pork pies, have you tried our delicious new Topped range? Our innovative chefs are always looking for ways to enhance your enjoyment. These Topped pork pies are made using our Original, but, as the name suggests, topped with an added layer of flavour, delicious!
